Usually we stay away from any place that has video slots but my husband and I gave Capone's a try on a Thursday night. You order at the counter where a lot of beer and wine choices are available. The menu is mostly burgers. I had the blues burger and my husband had one with steak sauce on it. Both were very good. The waffle fries and onion rings were typical. There seemed to be just one employee there. He took our order, cooked our food, and served us. He was friendly and cooked us great burgers. We almost passed on dessert because we were sure it would be disappointing. On impulse decided to split a canoli. It was surprisingly good. A little sweet for my taste but probably one of the best canoli I have tasted. They must be kind of hard to get right, because we have tasted a lot of bad ones. The restaurant is small but nicely furnished, with heavy wood wainscoting, a stamped ceiling and a decent floor. The best feature are several TVs on the walls that display a slide show of old pictures of the Rockford area and vintage advertisements. They were so interesting, we lingered just to watch them. I recommend Capone's for great burgers, beer, and a good atmosphere.

Nice quiet little place to eat, drink and play slots. Menu is small, but the food is tasty. I had the Italian beef with provolone. It came with chips. Bread was very fresh, as was the beef. Cute little place. Cheap prices. I'll definitely go back.

I am a huge supporter of small businesses, but my visit here made me wish I went to Chili's instead. My friend suggested this place since he passed by it a few times. Walking in I was a little confused as to what it was suppose to be...bar, eatery and what is all this talk about slots? The decor was decent...seemed a little cramped and the tables and chairs reminded me of a bingo hall. Apparently, there a small room in the back for gambling slots...I recommend ditching the food portion and just do a bar/gambling concept. The menu is very limited and quite common in my opinion. The prices are pretty cheap and nothing too stellar. My friend ordered a side salad along with his meal and it came out in a takeout container even though we were at a table. Weird. The meat ball sandwich I ordered was eh. Not going to lie Subway's taste better. The bright side they had Ol Salty chips with the meal! My advice....stick to the bar and slots.

This review is just for their burgers: if you like frozen patties plopped onto a bun, this is your place. Then again, midwesterners are very used to this ritual over their propane grills, so it may pass in their book. Condiments are its only saving grace (that and it is obviously a family-owned biz), and thus, my low rating. And get some real cheese for your cheese fries, for goodness sake. What's with the canned "cheese?" YOU ARE PRACTICALLY IN WISCONSIN.

It was ok... I had such high hopes for this place. Everything was just ok. Thank god the machines paid out...

They open at 10...for video slots. Not food. this lame and caused me to lower my rating a great deal. Prices were fantastic; food was good; employees were pleasant and helpful.

Had a great third visit to Capone's! This time I tried the Jucy Lucy (not misspelled!) It's a burger with the cheese in the meat. It was pretty great. The service was also top notch, despite the fact they were swamped with customers. Oh, I also tried the cheese curds as an appetizer and I highly recommend those to anyone who likes cheese. As always, the waffle fries were out of this world good. They also now have table service, have slot machines in the back room and have changed their name to "Capone's Eatery and Slots"

We just ordered for six and had six different items. The Italian beef had absolutely no flavor = NONE; the cheese pizza was just ok = no seasoning, but sauce was sweet, crust thin; the chicken alfredo also had no flavor and the juicy lucy burger wasn't juicy. The waffle fries were limp. Will not go there again.

We've been to Capone's several times and have not been disappointed. Especially like the pizza and chopped salad. Pizza is thin crust with generous toppings, very good value for price. In fact, all items on the extensive menu are a good value. Beer and wine available in this clean and comfortable restaurant.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
